MONETARY DONATION TO LOCAL AGENCY
With contributions from classmates who could not attend our 40th Reunion (held in July 2008) added to proceeds from fund-raising activities, a donation of $500 was given to The People’s Health and Wellness Clinic on North Main Street in Barre. Executive Director, Peter Youngbaer, said, "With a struggling economy, health care will take a back-seat to heating oil and food costs, affecting even more Central Vermont families. This money will be put to good use right here in the City of Barrejust in time to support our October flu shot clinics!"
Lynn Provasi, reunion coordinator, presented the check to Youngbaer on Monday, September 22, 2008 on behalf of the 1968 graduating classes of Spaulding and Marian High Schools. In deciding which charity to support, it was important to the Committee that the funds be used locally to help as many people as possible. Since the People's Health &
Wellness Clinic supports the uninsured in central Vermont and depends on local contributions to exist, it seemed the perfect fit!
Thanks to everyone for making this donation possible, and for giving me the honor of making the presentation!
